D’Banj is making some major moves this year. The singer, who recently scored a deal as the African ambassador for Beats By Dre, will apparently be playing himself in the film. 

He is reportedly taking acting lessons. He said in a recent interview: “Initially, I didn’t know I would need acting lessons to play myself in the movie but they want to make it very professional and very well done.”

Taking to Instagram to offer fans a sneak peek at two of her designs, Iggy shared her personal favourite pair, plus a second colour-way of the super high heels. 

“These are just my personal favorites but there are 15 different styles in total,” wrote Igs, alongside a snap of some navy satin peep toes, complete with sparkling crystal embellishment and chunky white cleated soles.

IN October, the Gulf International Technology Exhibition held in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, from October 12-16, with Nigeria as the official Country Partner of the event, reputed to be the biggest technology show in the MEASA (Miidle East, Africa and South Asia) region. The National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA, actualized Nigeria’s status as official country partner at the event.

One of the highlights of Nigeria’s participation at GITEX was an Investors’Dinner which held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel on Sheikh Rashid Road in Dubai. A top Nigerian crooner, Eedris Abdulkarim, was billed to entertain guests at the gala dinner, but for what he called “technical problems”, he could not. Tributes pour in for the legendary designer.

The fashion world is mourning the loss of the great Oscar de la Renta this morning, after he died at his home in Connecticut on Monday, because of complications from cancer. At 82 years old, Oscar had been battling the disease for a decade, with his wife Annette de la Renta confirming his passing. 

Despite his long-term illness, it was only this month that the designer enlisted the first ever creative director for the Oscar de la Renta label, with Peter Copping left to carry on his legacy. 

Having dressed many a celebrity, Twitter tributes to Oscar have come in their masses this morning, with Taylor Swift writing, “My all-time favorite designer has passed away. Oscar, it was an honor to wear your creations and to know you. In loving memory.”

T.I PLAYS PRANK ON FANS

T.I. played a funny prank on his fans at Footaction recently. The rapper, who is releasing his new album“Paperwork” on Tuesday (Oct 21), invited contestant winners to the store to be styled by him. T.I. and his crew members pick out hats, apparel from his Hustle Gang line, and sneakers. Basically throwing everything at the guys, who gladly accepted. 

As soon as it's time to pay, T.I. takes a fake phone call and goes to the backroom to watch the rest of the action. The cashier starts asking the contestant winners how they'd like to pay for the towering $10,000 bill. The looks on their faces are priceless. In the end, T.I. tells them they've just been "hustled."

Eddie Murphy, Morris Chestnut Land Roles

Eddie Murphy is trying his hand at drama for his next project. The actor has joined the next untitled movie from Bruce Beresford (Driving Miss Daisy). Murphy will replace Samuel L. Jackson, playing a cook who is hired by a dying man to prepare meals for his girlfriend and her daughter when he passes. No further details about the project, or Murphy's character, have been made available but the project does begin filming this month.

Also landing a new roles is Morris Chestnut, who joined the cast of Bus 657, directed by Scott Mann. Chestnut will star alongside Robert De Niro, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Dave Bautista and Gina Carano. De Niro will play the owner of a casino that is robbed by a father who is struggling to pay his daughter's medical treatment. Chestnut is De Niro's right-hand man, Derrick "Dog" Prince.

Meanwhile, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje has been cast in Jay Roach’s Trumbo, the story based on the life of blacklisted screenwriter Dalton Trumbo (to be played by Bryan Cranston). Trumbo wrote cinema classics Roman Holiday and Spartacus, and continued writing under pseudonyms after he was blacklisted for refusing to testify before the House Un-American Activities Committee in 1947. The Oz actor has also booked a role on the upcoming fifth season of HBO's Game of Thrones. Details of the role are being kept under wraps.

All Progressive Congress (APC) chieftain Audu Ogbe has apologized to the leadership of BringBackOurGirls over his comments which formed the basis of an attack by the Presidency on the group.

In a letter he personally sent to the group in Abuja, the former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) explained, “I feel obliged to let you know that my statement at our function last week was not intended to paint your group as an APC sub-group. The rest of you are not and may not even belong to any political association whatsoever.  This is not to say that you have no right to be if you choose to.”

Apologizing to the group and the entire leadership, Ogbeh, a former Minister of Communications, added “If my statement caused you discomfort, I do apologize, but reiterate that I have nothing but respect and admiration for you for keeping a six month vigil and telling the world that the Nigerian conscience is not entirely dead. This world is watching us and making judgments. I wish you God’s blessings and protection.”

The Citizens Arise Movement of Nigeria (CAMON) today released a press statement criticizing the indifferent response of the federal government to demands made by the group two weeks ago. CAMON had given the government a list of over two dozen demands on September 30th of this year, pushing for better conditions for Nigerian citizens. The federal government neither responded to the demands or to the two-week ultimatum given by the group, which has today decided to re-serve its demands. 

"We shall remain consistent, resolute and unwavering until there are satisfactory responses and actions towards addressing the stated demands," Dino Melaye stated on the group's behalf.
