NICKI'S VMA DRESS MALFUNCTION

The Video Music Awards in association with Sprite and Powered by MTV air tonight at 21:00 CAT (Red carpet starts at 20:00) on MTV Channel 130 (Now available on Dstv Compact and Extra)

The 2014 MTV VMA kicked off with a sass-fuelled triple performance from Ariana Grande, Jessie J and Nicki Minaj with Nicki seemingly having a little costume trouble during Bang Bang!

First up though launching the show, Ariana emerged from a spaceship in a sparkly body suit and boots to her new track featuring Zedd, "Break Free" before Minaj brought her Anaconda video to life on stage with lasers and dancers in reptilian costumes and oh so much BOOTY! Rita Ora's shocked face in the crowd said it all!

But Jessie J's appearance on stage chiming out their brand new single "Bang Bang" united the three superstars together with a costume change you'll just have to see tonight to believe!

Ariana came back on stage in a new black and white number but it seems Nicki's changeover didn't seem to go so smoothly with the "Starships" singer holding together her little black dress with her hands as she rapped. However the star kept her cool and finished the set! At a girl Nicki!
