CONGO WINS FIRST AFCON MATCH SINCE 1974

Congo Wins First AFCON match since 1974

The Africa Cup of Nations knockout stage is still ongoing and Congo won their first Africa Cup of Nations finals since 1974 last night (21 Jan) by beating Gabon to move top of Group A.

Congo’s captain Prince Oniangue capitalized on Gabon’s poor defending to score the winner three minutes after half-time. His lone goal ensured a win for Congo, the first time in more than 40 years at the AFCON finals. Theynow have four points on the table.

The AFCON tournament continues today (22 Jan)with Zambia taking on Tunisia, while Cape Verde team tackles DR Congo.
