The former producer of Dexter , Clyde Phillips, reveals how he wanted to finish the series

Jennifer Carpenter, Michael C. Hall, Dexter

Dexter  is no more. In case you have not seen the last episode of the series, we will not tell you that Dexter Morgan ( Michael C. Hall ) has changed sex and fled with Masuka. (This is a joke!)
But we can share with you an exclusive alternate ending pretty amazing.
Clyde Phillips , executive producer and showrunner of Dexter  in its infancy, has helped shape the first four seasons before making his farewell series in late 2009, after the season with Trinity ( John Lithgow ), which ended with the death Rita tragic.
We tracked down Phillips, currently executive producer of the series Nurse Jackie , and asked (well, rather begged) to show us how he saw the end of Dexter ... he had thought.
And it turns out that indeed, he had a goal in mind and that is one of the best ideas for a weekend series we've ever heard.
"I've never told anyone," said Philips us. "But here's what I would do personally, if I had stayed on the show. I decided to leave the show, and people did what they had to do, it does not have any problem and ... I think they did a good job with the last episode. But here's what I would have suggested. "
"In the very last scene of the series," said Philips, "Dexter wakes And everyone thinks:.." Oh, it was a dream "And then the camera pulls back more, and we said. "No, it was not a dream" Dexter opens his eyes, he finds himself on the table executed in a prison in Florida are starting to give him an injection and he turns to look. window of the execution chamber. "
"And in this room are all the people Dexter killed, including Trinity and the Ice Truck Killer (his brother Rudy), LaGuerta who died by his own fault that Doakes is dead because of him, Rita, who is died by his own fault, Lila. All the main characters, and the victim they killed every week. They are all there. "
"That's what I thought at the end of Dexter . Everything we saw in the last eight seasons took place in the space of a few seconds between the time the execution of Dexter started and when it ended, and he died. His life flashed before his eyes, as he was about to die. I think it would have given a great conclusion, epic and very satisfactory . "
You do not feel you chills through your body from head to toe?
Phillips explained that the idea for this purpose had been inspired by What happened on Owl Creek Bridge , a new 1890 a soldier of the Confederate Army signed to Ambrose Pierce , famous for its ability to alter time and purpose to rebound. A soldier is about to be hanged, the rope breaks, he falls into the river, swam to shore, ran to his family, sees his wife and children and just before the hug, the rope tightens and he dies. Finally, the whole story takes place in the space of two or three seconds between when the soldier falls and breaks his neck where.
Of course, even if Phillips had continued to work on Dexter , who knows how the series would have ended? "It's the idea that I would have proposed, this is what I wanted to do," Phillips told us. "But that does not mean that is what we have filmed, because nobody has the final decision on this series. This was a collaboration between Sara Colleton , John Goldwyn , chain and me. "
In our survey for anti-hero series, more than 60 percent of the fans of Dexter  said they would like to see Dexter Morgan die at the end (only 30 percent of fans of Breaking Bad   Walter White think should perish) .
Phillips, who took over the leadership of Nurse Jackie  last year, started filming a new season with Edie Falco on Tuesday, and we had worked up an appetite: "Last season,Nurse Jackie  was clean, but the brand series, its culture and its logo, tells the story of a drug addict nurse. In the last episode, last year, we saw taking drugs, so now we will find Jackie drugs even more than before but things are a little different. "
Given the taste Given Phillips bold stories, surprises and reversals very nuanced character development, we can not wait to see what will happen.
What do you think of the idea of Phillips at the end of Dexter ? If you saw the last episode, tell us if it met your expectations. Are you sad that the series is over? Leave us your comments!
