2015: Northern Youths Beg Buhari To Step Down For Atiku


organisations in Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states have appealed to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to consider contesting the position of president in the 2015 general election on the platform of the APC.

The groups also asked former Head of State, Gen Muhammadu Buhari, to consider stepping down for the former Vice President to get the party’s ticket in the interest of justice and fair-play, Daily Trust have reported.

Addressing a press conference in Sokoto, speaker of the coalition, Lukman Yakub, said the association with over 15.3 million youths endorsed Atiku as their sole candidate for the presidential race.
He urged former Head of State, Gen.Muhammadu Buhari, whom he noted had had a shot at the number one position in the country to give Atiku a chance to run on the party’s ticket. He noted that the electorate in the present politics vote candidates and not political parties, enumerating 15 reasons why Atiku should contest the election.
Yakub described Atiku as an outstanding politician, adding that he stands for true democracy and good governance in the interest of the nation.
“Atiku Abubakar is the most detribalized, accessible leadership figure in Nigeria with close links to citizen at all levels nationwide. Turaki has the greatest number of qualities required of a true leader and thus should be called upon to the highest office in Nigeria which is president,” he said.
