Yoruba People In Maiduguri Donate Help To Displaced Persons

Yoruba people residing in the capital city of Borno state, Maiduguri, donated relief materials to internally displaced persons. The action took place on September 23, 2014, Tuesday and was aimed at people who have left their homes following endless attacks by Boko Haram fighters in the state.

According to SaharaReporters, the Yoruba community was led by the Mia (Oba) of Yoruba residents in Borno, Alhaji Hassan Yusuf Alao. Several other stakeholders of the community at the NYSC orientation have also joined the Oba.
Alhaji Hassan Alao expressed his sympathy for the people affected by the insurgency. He said the Yoruba community shows solidarity with the displaced people by donating relief materials, which should help to ease the hardships they have been facing.
“We feel the pain of the displaced people. That is why we decided to present this token as our own contribution to assist the people. It is not this little gift that matters but the spirit behind it.
“The victims are in serious need of it,” Alhaji Hassan Yusuf Alao said.
He further urged the displaced persons to take what happened as the will of God. Yoruba community leader has prayed for prompt restoration of peace in Borno and all over Nigeria.
The items for the displaced people were received by Abba Yarama Bukar, who is the Chairman of the sub-committee for displaced people in NYSC camp.
Mr Bukar expressed gratitude to the Yoruba community for noticing the difficult situation of these people and for helping them in these hard times.
According to studies by SaharaReporters, four refugee camps in Maiduguri are inhabited by thousands of internally displaced persons. They mostly represent eight local government areas of Borno State captured and controlled by Boko Haram.
At the same time, the danger of losing 2-million city, Maiduguri, to insurgents has reduced after the Nigerian Army has recently made some successful offensive operations against the terrorist sect in Konduga.
