Colin Farrell said he would play in the second season of True Detective

Colin Farrell  said he would play in the upcoming season of the HBO series, True Detective , in an interview with the Irish newspaper The Sunday World , taken up by various media outlets, including the New York Times . The cable channel has not issued a comment after the announcement. A near-series source told E! News in July that the Irish actor was one of the names in order.
"I'll play in the second set. I'm too happy," said Farrell in Sunday World .
No details of his character has been revealed. The New York Times says that the actor was quoted as saying in an interview that he knew "very little" on season 2, except for the fact that there will be eight episodes and will be filmed around Los Angeles.
The actor of 38 years is known for her roles in films such as Daredevil ,  Phone Booth  and the 2012 remake Total Recall . True Detective  is the first real regular role of the actor on television since he played in Ballykissangel  for the BBC from 1998 to 1999 also had a guest role in Scrubs  in 2005.
The first season of True Detective featured Matthew McConaughey  and Woody Harrelson in the role of detectives Rust Cohle, a mysterious investigator and gifted to a troubled past, and Marty Hart, a real womanizer, who must put their differences aside for try to trap a serial killer in Louisiana. The second season will revolve around a new plot and new characters.
True Detective , created and written by Nic Pizzolatto , was directed by the beautiful  Cary Joji Fukunaga , who won an Emmy for his work. The creator and the actors were also nominated that night. They lost against Bryan Cranston , who won with Breaking Bad .

In July, the president of HBO, Michael Lombardo , told reporters that the first two scenarios Season 2 of True Detective were "more exciting" than the first season and they comprendraint "famous actors". Pizzolatto said in June that it would also have a female character "strong" in the new season.
In August, the star of Mad Men, Elisabeth Moss and Vince Vaughn  were in talks to join the series. The name of Jessica Chastain also circulated, but those rumors were subsequently denied.
